All candidates must have the following:
- A level 3 qualification in their own subject specialism
- Have an appropriate level of education (5 GCSEs minimum at C and above or equivalent - to include English
- Potential to complete 150 hours of teaching which may be voluntary over the course of the programme
- Successful interview with course tutor

Course Aims:
This qualification is open to all in service, pre service and pre employment teachers, trainers and tutors in the Lifelong Learning Sector or suitably qualified people who wish to enter the profession. The Diploma is designed for those who are able to undertake a full teaching role having responsibility for learner sthroughout the learning process and engaging in teaching on a range of adademic levels within their subject specialism. Full Award trainees would be expected to use resources they have designed and evaluated, deliver learning across a range of levels, subjects and learner types, and contribute to a range of programmes of varying lenghts. The programme can lead to QTLS status. (Qualified Teacher in the Learning and Skills Sector)
Course Content:
The qualification comprises the following study and activities:
Year One
- An initial assessment of literacy, numeracy and ICT skills and commencement of the Professional Development Portfolio
- Completion of the threshold award 'Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector'
- Module Two: Aligning Teaching Learning and Assessment
- Module Three: Teaching and Reflecting on own Practice; including 75 hoours of teaching practice/placement within a subject specialism and 4 hours of observed practice
Year Two
- Module Four: Action Research
- Module Frive: Professional Values and Inclusive Practice
- Module Six: Teaching and Reflecting on others Practice; including 75 hours of teaching practice/placement within a subject specialism and 4 hours of observed practice

Qualification:
Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (Certificate in Education for Non-Graduates and Post Graduate Certificate in Education for Graduates
Level:
Certificate in Education Trainees undertake 3 modules at level 1 HE/Level 4 NQF and 3 Modules at Level 2 HE/Level 5 NQF
PGCE Trainees undertake 3 modules at level 1 HE/Level 4 NCF, 1 module at Level 3 HE/Level 6 NQF and 2 modules at Masters level 4 HE/Level 7 NQF

Duration:
30 weeks per year for 2 years
