DIY For Beginners

The course is designed to equip attendees with a number of basic DIY skills to assist in the maintenance of their home, including the following:

* Carpentry - How to cut and fix skirting boards/architraves; how to hang a door; what sort of screws/nails to use; how to use different fixings on solid/plasterboard walls.

* Tiling & Grouting - How to reseal around baths/showers with silicon sealants.

* Decorating - How to fill cracks/holes in solid and plasterboard walls; what sort of paints to use on timber/walls.

* Electrical - Switches and sockets; how to fit a dimmer switch; what size fuses to put into plug tops; how to rewire a table lamp and change a light fitting.

* Plumbing - How to replace a tap washer; how to unblock a sink and waste pipe; how to change a tap; how to bleed a radiator.
