The Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Paediatric Dentistry) is aimed at qualified local and international dentists who wish to practice in the special needs of children's dentistry. You will study preventive dentistry, behaviour management, child assessment and treatment planning, the management of orofacial trauma, childhood dental anomalies and genetics, and paediatric oral pathology and medicine. You will also complete a research project in the field of paediatric dental surgery or practice under the supervision of an academic staff member.

Study planThe Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Paediatric Dentistry) is a three year full-time course. Students will enrol and complete all units of study outlined for each semester. This course is primarily clinical based with didactic sessions and a research component in each semester.
Progression rules
The faculty requires candidates to demonstrate satisfactory progress with their studies as set out in the current relevant University policy on progression. Candidates are required to successfully complete an end of semester assessment before being able to progress to the units of study in the subsequent semester. Candidates must remain registered with the Australian Dental Board for the duration of their candidature. Where a candidate does not remain registered with the Australian Dental Board, the faculty may terminate candidature.
Capstone experienceA capstone experience comprises one or more units of study designed by the faculty to provide students with an opportunity to draw together the learning that has taken place during the award, synthesise this with their prior learning and experience, and draw conclusions that will form the basis for further investigation, intellectual and/or professional growth. For the Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Paediatric Dentistry) all students will complete a thesis as a capstone experience. The research project is undertaken throughout the course.
