WHAT IS IT?
The Documentary Photography workshop (previously Photojournalism workshop) takes an introductory look at how to use images to tell stories. The course will equip you with essential skills needed to produce a photo-story including structural elements and techniques to heighten the impact of stories as well as tips on getting access to your subject, analysing photography and basic multimedia production. During the course you will work on a documentary project including research, shooting, use of text and editing.

WHO IS IT FOR?
•You are interested in a journalism career or you already write stories/blogs/features.
•You are interested in a career as a picture/photo editor.
•You are a writer, film maker, or artist interested in learning how to better use images and multimedia to tell stories.
• You have previously completed one or more of the other Shoot Experience workshops and are looking to take your skills to another next level.
• You love documenting the world around you, have ideas and projects but find yourself missing the technical depth or experience to realise them.

If you have answered yes to any of the above then this workshop is for you!

HOW IS THE COURSE TAUGHT?
The two day course is taught in small groups (no more than 6 people). You will learn how to choose the correct types of images to ensure the story gives the reader the most interesting and insightful experience possible. The small numbers allow for discreet street photography and personalised tuition.
Everyone will gain something regardless of his/her specific approach or technical level. The workshop will combine concise classroom tuition and outdoor adventures, with an emphasis on putting into practice the skills gained immediately - supported by helpful guidance, care and attention.

You will carry out three challenges designed to exercise different techniques, practice new skills and encourage creative experimentation. Individuals will have the opportunity to pursue the ideas and techniques that most interest them with as much guidance as is required.
There will be opportunities to review the work in class and gain valuable insights from your peers.
