What you need to know
How will I study?

All aspects of grooming, including styling and finishing dogs to a very high standard. You will also learn how to plan your work, use tools and equipment safely, promote the health and well being of dogs and understand the health and safety requirements of a dog grooming salon. Understanding the needs of dogs and meeting their owner's requirements is also covered and our grooming team will offer their own personal insights into how to be successful in the industry. Modules studied on this course include, hand stripping a dog's coat, styling and trimming a spaniel's coat, health checking a dog and styling and trimming a short-legged terrier's coat.
How will I be taught?

All teaching takes place in our grooming parlour where you will work closely with a lecturer and grooming assistant. You will learn by doing and will benefit from outstanding advice and guidance, close supervision and support from your peers.
How will I be assessed?

Ongoing assessment of practical activity, a one-to-one assessment with tutor, a formal assessment consisting of a two hour theory exam and production of a portfolio of written and photographic evidence of your hard work.
