Course programme

What qualifications do I need?

You will need four GCSEs grade D or above (English, Maths and Science) and to enjoy practical activities and problem solving.

What’s involved?

During your course you will be undertaking both theory and practical exercises. The practical training will involve installation of cold water systems using copper and plastic pipework, control systems, hot water systems and radiators.

The theory training will involve central heating, installation and maintenance, gas and oil awareness, heating system controls, hot water and cold water systems, installation and maintenance, material and processes selection and principles of electricity.

How will I be studying?

You will be trained in the College’s Energy Training Centre and you will undertake practical and theoretical assignments during your course. You will be assessed by online multiple choice exams.

Where can I move on to after this course?

On successful completion of this course you can then progress to an advanced course i.e. a Level 3 Diploma in Plumbing and Heating.
