Control and Administration of Medications Level 3

This medication online course provides all the knowledge requirements for the safe control, handling and administration of medicines in social and domiciliary care environments. This course is designed for managers or senior care workers to enable them to supervise or undertake the administration of medicines in their particular care setting and in accordance with current legal requirements. This medication online course meets the requirements for and covers in its entirety the Learning Outcomes for the "Knowledge Set for Medication" as defined by Skills for Care and Development in 2005: Following successful completion, individuals must be observed by a designated person to competently administer a range of medicines. We can provide registered students with a downloadable preform for this purpose. Following successful completion of the theoretical and practical components, a manager may recognise an individual as a person designated for the administration of medicines.

Learning Outcomes: This course will cover the following topics; Describe the key legislation and guidance relating to the safe handling of medicines, Identify how organisational policies and procedures ensure the safe handling of medicines, For a range of care settings and both medical and non-medical care staff, Outline the process for the prescribing, dispensing, obtaining and checking of medicines, Outline the range of support and guidance available relating to medicines and explain the importance of confidentiality relating to disclosure about individuals medication, Identify the types, purpose and classification of medicines commonly administered, Explain the routes by which medicines may be administered, the related rules for administration and level of competence required, Outline the importance of checking for, recognising and reporting effects that can occur as a result of an adverse reaction, a contraindication or an interaction between medicines, Explain the need to gain consent and undertake risk assessment prior to the self or secondary administration of medicines, Describe the importance of the preparation for and administration of medicines to ensure accuracy, Identify the importance of accurate recording for the administration and refusal of medicines and administration errors Recognise the requirements to validate accuracy of safe storage and recording for medicines and for their safe disposal

Fire Safety

This online course will provide the learner with the knowledge to help prevent and reduce the risk of fire within the work place. The aim is to raise awareness of the importance of fire safety for all staff.

First Aid

This course is suitable for people who are designated as an appointed person in the workplace. It will also meet the needs of those supporting a qualified First Aid at Work (FAW) practitioner. The content also fulfils the requirements for the FAW annual refresher.

Health and Safety

This course covers health and safety in an adult social care setting. It outlines key legislation and how to act in emergency situations such as sudden illness or fire. It highlights roles and responsibilities in relation to moving individuals, medication, infection control, food hygiene and nutrition. Finally, it explains how to recognise and manage stress.

Infection Prevention and Control

All healthcare workers have a duty of care to their patients and preventing infection forms part of that duty of care. This module will help NHS organisations to fulfil their requirements because, on completion, learners will have gained an overview of the key elements of infection control, understand how infections might occur and how good practice can reduce their likelihood and prevent their spread.

Lone Working Essentials

This course teaches the learner how to minimize the risks associated with working alone. This course looks at the hazards and risks associated with these situations, and the appropriate control measures.

Moving and Handling of People

This moving and handling of people training programme is designed to provide students with the essential knowledge and understanding of the safe process of moving people to prevent injury to themselves and the person being moved, whilst also covering the legal requirements regarding the handling of people.

Nutrition Awareness

Our online course will provide you with an understanding of Nutrition. It explains the basic concepts of nutrition and highlights the ways people can integrate good nutrition into their lifestyles. The module also depicts how nutritional caring is a vital component of care.

Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults

This online course should be completed by any person who deals with Vulnerable Adults as part of their job. On completion of this module you will be able to identify the different types of abuse to which vulnerable adults are exposed and understand the responsibilities of organisations and individual carers to vulnerable adults.

Manual Handling of Objects

This course is aimed at those who carry out manual handling activities at work and introduces delegates to the hazards of manual handling. The risks involved and controls available and what to expect from a manual handling assessment. The aim is to ensure that the learner is working to current Manual Handling guidelines, alleviate any poor techniques that they may have adopted and minimise the risk of injury to themselves.

Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards

The Mental Capacity Act Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (MCA DOLS) came into effect on 1st April 2009. This amends a breach of the European Convention on Human Rights and provide for the lawful deprivation of liberty of those people who lack the capacity to consent to arrangements made for their care or treatment in either hospitals or care homes, but who need to be deprived of liberty in their own best interests, to protect them from harm.

Palliative End of Life Care

The Palliative care awareness course is for candidates working within a caring role for those who have a life-limiting illness. This course will enable candidates to undertake the carer’s role with confidence applying understanding of palliative care providing dignity, comfort and empathy.
