National Certificate for Door Supervisors - Licensed Premises

The BIIAB Level 2 National Certificate for Door Supervisors - Licensed Premises is a national qaulification accredited by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority. The qualification is designed for door supervisors already working in licensed retail or wishing to start work in the industry. The qualification is designed to meet training and qualification criteria defined by local authority registration schemes, and is compliant with British Standard no: 99/703535.

With effect from April 2004, both Stage 1 and 2 of this qualification will become mandatory requirements for all door supervisors.

The qualification has two stages:

* Stage One - knowledge based
* Stage Two - skills based

Candidates must have successfully completed Stage One before progressing to Stage Two.

How is it assessed?

Stage One is assessed by a 45-minute examination consisting of 30 multiple-choice questions.

Stage Two is assessed partly by examination and partly by demonstration of physical competence.
What does a candidate receive on successful assessment?

For Stage One: a certificate and a door supervisor's passport containing their photograph which is awarded by BIIAB.

Evidence of Stage Two competencies can be added to the passport at any time upon successful assessment.
How long is the course leading to the Stage One examination or the Stage Two assessment?

The length of course varies according to local requirements.
What Support Material is available?

A specially designed handbook, which contains all the material required for the Stage One examination, is available from BIIAB. Material for the whole scheme is also available in a special pack.
