Course review:
Discover da Vinci's unfinished Adoration of the Magi, Galileo’s scientific instruments, and grotesque sculptures in the Giardini di Boboli as you refine your ability to draw. Four-hour daily lessons each morning will take place in situ, allowing you time to practice measurement & proportion, figure drawing, and perspective. The lessons grow out of a belief that learning to draw occurs in parallel with seeing and thinking anew. The course is sequentially structured and techniques are interwoven with comprehensive art historical context. In addition to morning sessions, you will be inspired by relevant readings, suggestions for further museum visits, optional afternoon visits, and one evening lecture by an art historian. With two seasoned instructors and a small group of participants, you will grow artistically in a nurturing, rigorous environment with ample one-on-one contact.
Draw Florence 2012 will take place from the evening of Sunday, August 5th through the evening of Friday the 10th. There will be four hours of structured drawing lessons each morning, and afternoons free with a few optional activities planned. There will be one evening lecture as well by a local art historian. You will be in charge of your own lodgings and meals, although we will supply you with a list of good options in a range of prices. We will also organize dinners together to open and close the course, on Sunday and Friday evenings.
