This one-day workshop will explore drawing in an alternative way and how it can evolve into a 3-dimensional object or ‘sculpture’ whilst still remaining a drawing.
Paper is an every-day material which we often overlook. By using a variety of techniques and drawing mediums such as charcoal, ink and gouache this workshop gives you the opportunity to experiment with this tactile material. Using both cartridge paper and Indian rag roll paper you will be able to explore the potential of drawing and paper and experiment with your own creative ideas.
The day will start with sketching warm-ups for inspiration and then experiment with ink, charcoal and gouache. You will explore mark making, drawing techniques and paper, with some inspiration from famous artists and the environment. Paper drawings will then be turned into an organic sculpture by wetting and re-moulding it, to create something unique based upon the original drawing itself.
Your tutor, Sarah L. Goy, is a practising and exhibiting artist, involved with community art in addition to running own workshops in her unique way. She travels a great deal which influences her creative style; she has a strong belief in art for everyone and encourages experimentation with creative mediums. This workshop is ideal for beginners or those with some experience of drawing, providing an enjoyable day in which to experiment and explore an artistic process in a relaxed way to creating sculptures out of your drawings.
