Dual Diagnosis

This one-day course aims to raise awareness about dual diagnosis and explore approaches and models to working with the dually diagnosed. It consists of a mixture of inputs, case study work and participatory educational exercises.

The specific objectives are for participants:

  • To increase awareness of the extent and nature of dual diagnosis of mental health and substance use
  • To provide, basic, appropriate information about mental health and substance use
  • To examine the interaction between alcohol, drugs, mental health and psychoactive medication
  • To explore the risk associated with dual diagnosis
  • To highlight the role of non-engagement as a feature of working with the dually diagnosed
  • To explore approaches to working with non-engaging dually diagnosed clients
  • To provide information about governmental guidance on this issue

Additional information

Payment options: The standard charge for in house training is £225 per half-day session and £400 per day for Statutory Organisations. For voluntary sector organisations the fees are £200 per half day and £350 per day.
