Course Summary:
The Advanced Diploma is a vocationally related qualification (VRQ) and has been developed by EAL in response to the demands of the engineering industry. The qualification is recognised as the technical certificate for the Advanced Modern Apprenticeship.
Entry requirements
Offers of a place on the course are dependent on your qualifications (grade D or above at GCSE level) and practical aptitude. You will need to have a successful interview and initial assessment. Parents, guardians or carers are welcome to attend the interview but not the initial assessment.

Course Content: Health and Safety Working Efficiently and Effectively Fabrication Pathway Options - Engineering Principles (Fabrication) MMA Welding MIG Welding TIG Welding Sheet-metal Fabrication Mechanical Pathway Options - Engineering Principles (Mechanical) CNC Machining CAD Inspection and Quality (Measurement) Advanced Milling Advanced Turning Maintenance Pathway Options - Engineering Principles (Maintenance) Maintenance of Mechanical Systems Electrical/Electronic Maintenance Pneumatics Mechanical Principles CAD You will also develop your skills in Maths and English which will support your main programme of study, help your future progression and enhance your life skills. How will I be assessed? Internal and external assessments will take place. In addition, a portfolio of evidence is collected to demonstrate your competence and knowledge. Are there any additional costs or specialist equipment required? You will need to provide PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). What can I do after this course? You could progress to an NVQ Level 3/4 in your chosen discipline, an Advanced or Higher Apprenticeship, or other appropriate educational courses such as a Subsidiary Diploma to provide access to a Foundation Degree.
