This two year Level 3 programme provides the learner with an advanced level engineering qualification, with a broad base of engineering understanding and practical training. It is a stand-alone qualification or can form part of an Advanced Engineering Apprenticeship framework. An examination fee is included in the cost of the course.

The qualification follows a multi-skill pathway that consists of the following units:
001 Working Effectively and Safely in an Engineering Environment.
002 Engineering Principles and Practice.

040 Toolmaking/Presswork/Extrusion

This course is a Technical Certificate and is part of the Apprenticeship framework. Elements of Functional Skills will be integrated into this award and can be used with evidence available in the workplace towards an Apprenticeship.

Course programme

Academic studies at National Certificate and Higher National Certificate level in Engineering.

It is recommended that you will have a Level 2 Performing Engineering Operations or the Level 2 Diploma in Engineering and Technology. Safety boots and overalls, ring-binder, pens, paper and calculator will also be required.

This qualification is assessed by 2 external examinations and on-going internal assessment of practical tasks.
