Previous knowledge required: All applicants must complete a satisfactory interview. Applications from mature candidates are particularly welcome.
What will I study? Working safely in an engineering environment; Working efficiently and effectively in engineering; Using and communicating technical information; Producing components using hand fitting techniques; Maintaining mechanical devices and equipment; Preparing and using manual metal arc welding equipment and Preparing and using manual MIG, MAG and other continuous wire welding equipment.
What else will I do? You will receive a grounding in basic skills, the knowledge and understanding of common engineering practices, and a grasp of safe working procedures. All of which are essential for anyone looking for a career in engineering.
How will I be assessed? There will be a combination of examinations and coursework.
What will I achieve? EAL NVQ Level 2 Certificate in Performing Engineering Operations Edexcel Level 2 BTEC First Certificate in Engineering EAL Level 2 Key Skills in Application of Number, Communication and Information and Communication Technology
What can I do afterwards? Performing Engineering Operations NVQ provides the ideal foundation for entrants into a wide range of occupations. They are based on national occupational standards, developed to meet the needs of the engineering industry, and can satisfy the foundation requirement of the Apprenticeship and Advanced Apprenticeship in Engineering.
