Course Overview:
This qualification is designed for experienced persons who are working in the electrotechnical industry as practicing electricians for a minimum of 5 years and who can demonstrate their technical knowledge, performance and competence to the industry standards at Level 3 and in line with the current edition of the IET Wiring Regulations BS 7671.
The objective is that those persons who successfully complete this qualification will be judged to have met the eligibility requirements sufficient to apply for an Installation Electrician ECS Card from the JIB.

About this course

Entry Requirements:
This qualification is not suitable for new entrants to the electrotechnical industry, apprentices or other operatives who require any training or those who completed an industry relevant technical certificate after 2008. Such candidates are required to study and complete the training and assessment requirements of the relevant apprenticeship NVQ e.g. EAL Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (Buildings, structures and the environment) QCF.

Course programme

Course Delivery:

The competencies involved with electrical installation and commissioning. The qualification is made up of 8 mandatory units covering safe site working, technical and functional information, health and safety, installation preparation and practice, diagnosing and correcting faults, connecting wiring systems; and inspection & testing and commissioning. Ensure site safety, site meetings, maintaining Health & Safety, preparing to install, 1st fix, 2nd fix, Inspection & Testing and fault finding. On completion of the NVQ, you will be required to do the AM2 Trade Test.
