Course programme

Course Content

Learners following the must complete the Mandatory unit, plus achieve sufficient credits from a selection of Optional units. Alongside this course you will be expected to develop your numeracy and literacy skills by following a Numeracy and/or Literacy qualification in Functional Skills; Students with a D grade in English or Math's will be required to attend lessons and work towards achieving a C grade or above.

Introduction to Working in Engineering

Optional units

These units introduce specific skills which are needed in different areas of engineering and include:-

Preparing for an interview

Managing study and approaches to learning

Introduction to machining

Engineering materials Introduction to cutting/forming/assembling engineering materials

Introduction to basic maths and science

Introduction to CAD Introduction to engineering project planning.

Method of Study

Most sessions take place in our purpose built industry standard engineering workshops. These are supported by Classroom theory sessions, assignments and on-line learning.
In all units practical projects are undertaken where you learn to plan and carry out engineering jobs to industry standard.
