This programme is intended for students wishing to work professionally with children aged 0-8 years (or who are already working with children in this age group) wishing to study for a higher level qualification. It aims to equip you to play professional roles in the early years sector. You will develop knowledge and skills that will enable you to participate in planning, evaluating and implementing the education and care of young children from 0-8 years and will use this knowledge and understanding to support your practical work with children in the workplace. It is fundamental to the approach of the course that theory and practical work are inter-related. Outcomes The aims of this programme are: To give you the skills and knowledge you need to work in the early years' sector, as required by new Government legislation. To give you invaluable experience in a variety of settings and with different age groups of children. To provide opportunities to progress to the Early Childhood Studies BA Hons and gain a Degree in one further year..

Applicants should have:64 UCAS pointsFROM BTEC National Diploma in a relevant subject or CACHE Level 3 DiplomaOR A-levels in at least two subjects with at last one grade C in a relevant subject with supporting GCSE passes at grades A-COR an Access to Higher Education CertificateOR other relevant Level 3 qualifications e.g. NVQ 3 or Advanced Diploma.Mature students with extensive work experience and/or relevant professional qualifications will also be considered..
