Entry Requirements
As the level of this pathway (Level 3) determines that the apprentice should be working at a level where they may either be working on their own or supervising others, the apprentice should have prior experience of the sector and be employed in a position whereby they would be able to demonstrate the competencies required at this level.
Candidates should also:
Ideally have Level 2 Maths & English Functional Skills (or equivalent GCSEs)
Show enthusiasm to work with children and young people and be working for a minimum of 30 hours per week and a maximum of 48 hours – this is inclusive of any study days at college.
Have a suitable level of physical fitness to perform some aspects of the job roles.
Be willing to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS) check.
In order to enrol onto an Apprenticeship, you need to be employed in a relevant job role and undertake a range of tasks which would enable you to complete the Apprenticeship qualification.
Addition day required in college for Functional Skills Maths, English and ICT if not already achieved or needed to up-skill, delivered on the monthly Masterclass day.

Career Progression
Achievement of this pathway will enable apprentices to access higher level jobs within the sector for instance nursery supervisor, nursery manager, pre-school manager/co-ordinator, etc. There is also opportunity for apprentices to go on to further study at higher levels, particularly working towards a Foundation Degree in Early Years.

Summary
This framework is to develop knowledge and skills relating to the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator). At Level 3, the qualification confirms competence in this area and serves as the required qualification (for all new practitioners) for registration and regulatory requirements in the early learning and childcare sector.
The Apprentice will attend Master Classes at City College Norwich where the core theoretical, underpinning knowledge elements of the Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce will be taught – portfolio building will also form part of this day.
Course Content includes:
- Support healthy lifestyles for children through the provision of food and nutrition
- Promotes children’s emotional well-being
- Understand how to support children who are unwell
- Understand legislation relating to the safeguarding, protection and welfare of children
- Follow legislation relating to equality, diversity and inclusive practice
You will complete Level 3 Early Years Educator as part of this Apprenticeship.
- This Apprenticeship will involve college attendance and off the job training.
- You will also develop your knowledge, skills and behaviours.
- You need to have an employer to support your Apprenticeship and be employed in a relevant job role.
- The typical length of this Apprenticeship course is 24 months.
- This course has multiple start dates throughout the year.
