The qualification is broken down into four themes taught over the two years They are: health & wellbeing; legislation, frameworks and professional practice; play, development and learning for school readiness; and professional development
How will I be assessed?There will be a combination of practical assessment in the workplace, portfolio tasks (projects, assignment work, reflective accounts and professional discussions) and practical activities There will also be a 'long' study carried out over several months
What may it lead to?By achieving this qualification, you will be able to access Higher Education (degree-level courses) or gain a job as an early years educator
Entry RequirementsAnyone wishing to join this course will need to have a Level 2 Childcare qualification
Work ExperienceA minimum of 350 work placement hours is required to complete this course
Additional Information & Other CostsPlaces will be subject to a DBS Enhanced disclosure (carried out by the college prior to your start) The qualification is suitable for over 19s who work or have a voluntary placement with a minimum of 12 hours per week You will need GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above (or an equivalent (qualification such as Functional Skills, CSEs or O Levels) Key Skills are not accepted
