About this course

Achieving Early Years Teacher Status is an excellent foundation to progress into teaching nursery and reception classes in academies, free schools and independent schools. It also provides a springboard to lead practice in pre-schools, Children’s Centres, foundation stage units and child-minding networks and is a valuable starting point for a career in private day care regional management.

Early Years Teacher Status will significantly enhance your ability to effect change in settings, communicate ideas for effective change to other staff, and assist you in becoming involved in supporting others through mentoring, coaching and leading professional development activities. You will have the ability and knowledge to create, inspire and lead the best practice with young children.

To cater for applicants from a range of backgrounds, settings and roles, the route you undertake will be based on your qualifications and experience.

We can help you to choose the right route to become an Early Years Teacher, with appropriate and sufficient time being trained in Early Years settings or schools to enable you to meet all of the Teachers’ Standards (Early Years).

Face-to-face sessions will cover content such as the fundamentals of early years, Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), enabling environments, safeguarding, inclusion, positive relationships/behaviour, child development, leadership and management, planning and assessment, early maths, early reading and phonics, and the National Curriculum Key Stage 1 continuum;
