This one year, fully-funded, postgraduate course will recommend you on completion for Early Years Teacher Status - a government endorsed accreditation to teach children aged 0-5 years. You'll be taught and supported by highly experienced tutors, Early Years practitioners and mentors who have a strong reputation for the quality of their training. This course is designed for those who wish to specialise in early childhood development and lead education and care for children from birth to five years. Working as an Early Years Teacher with young children is a rewarding and challenging career, and teachers can make a real difference to children’s development and life chances.

EYTS qualifies you to lead teaching in academies, private, voluntary and independent (PVI) Early Years settings. If working in state maintained schools, you may wish to at a later date go onto complete the Assessment Only QTS which will enable you to teach across the whole primary age range.

Course programme
- University-led route: you will experience a range of placements, including three long placements.
- Employer-led route: it is expected that you will already be working with children in this age group. You will be mentored by senior staff members in your workplace and may also undertake a complementary placement.
In partnership with our early years settings, we ensure you have access to the best and most inspiring, practising teachers and mentors. It will cover general aspects of teaching, professional studies and support for placements. You will have opportunities to participate in taught sessions at University, to observe best practice, and your individual needs will be met through mentoring on each of your placements.
Assessment:
You will be assessed through ongoing observations of your professional practice during your various placements. Placement guides support you to engage in various activities, including a series of written reflections. These activities and written reflections will help you to build up evidence towards reaching the Teachers’ Standards (Early Years).
