Early Years Initial Teacher Training - University-led & Employer-led routes

Placements:

• University-led route: you will experience a range of placements, including three long placements.
• Employer-led route: it is expected that you will already be working with children in this age group. You will be mentored by senior staff members in your workplace and may also undertake a complementary placement.

Teaching:

In partnership with our early years settings, we ensure you have access to the best and most inspiring, practising teachers and mentors. It will cover general aspects of teaching, professional studies and support for placements. You will have opportunities to participate in taught sessions at University, to observe best practice, and your individual needs will be met through mentoring on each of your placements.

Assessment:

You will be assessed through ongoing observations of your professional practice during your various placements. Placement guides support you to engage in various activities, including a series of written reflections. These activities and written reflections will help you to build up evidence towards reaching the Teachers’ Standards (Early Years).
