About this course

You should already have an ECDL Certificate for IT Users Level 1, or any other IT Foundation Level Certificate (such as CLAIT Level 1). You will also need to be aged 19 or over and have good IT skills. The ability to use IT in the workplace would also be helpful.

ECDL Advanced - Presentations

Introduction:
This course covers the presentation module of the European Computer Driving License (ECDL) qualification. You will receive specialist ECDL accreditation for covering theoretical and practical tasks set by the examining board.

Study Mode & Location:
This 10 week part-time evening course will last for 3 hours a week. It will be held at Preston College, Fulwood Campus, St Vincent`s Road, Preston, PR2 8UR and Preston North End Learning Centre, PNE Football Club, Bill Shankly Kop, Hollins Road, Deepdale, Preston, PR1 6RU.

Course Content:
All aspects of creating computer based presentations will be covered. Specific tasks will be completed, associated with the particular software application used. The theory unit will cover all the underlying concepts together with legal issues. Health and safety requirements and integrating software will also be looked at.

Assessment:
A task-based practical test will be taken. Your tutor will mark this and a pass mark of 75% is required. The theory module is assessed by a multi-choice paper (taken as a final test). This is externally marked by the British Computer Society. The test currently has 25 questions and the pass mark is 80%.

Careers & Progression Opportunities:
You can progress to other ECDL modules or to the full ECDL Advanced qualification.

How To Apply
You will need to have an informal interview with a Adult Admissions Adviser.
Many courses have limited places so please enquire as soon as possible. Following interview, the earliest you may enrol is mid-June.
