ECDL Advanced - Spreadsheets

Cost:
90 per unit plus 25 log book and 100 for assessment.

Aims:
There are 4 advanced ECDL modules: Word Processing, Spreadsheet, Database and Presentations.
Each module is independent of the other modules and there is a separate certificate for each module. I tis assumed that the students who study these modules will already have acquired the skills set and underpinning knowledge contained in the corresponding module of the ECDL certificate, although the student need not have studies or passed the ECDL certificate. Prior to assessment for certification learners will be advised to take the pre-assessment under timed assessment conditions and submit this for review by the tutor.

Spreadsheets:
This module requires the candidate to use the spreadsheet application to produce what are deemed to be advanced spreadsheet outputs. The candidate shall be able to operate effectively at more than a basic level of competence and be able to edit and enhance numeric text and graphical data and to sort, query and link data, carry out advanced formatting and presentation operations on charts and graphs, use functions such as those associated with logical, statistical or mathematical operations and use available analysis and audit tools and to run and record simple macros.
Testing:
Initially testing will be offered on the last Tuesday evening of each month. The time of the test session will be 1800 to 2000 hours. The tests will start at 1830 and last for 1 hour. The first and last 30 minutes are for pre and post testing procedures. Assessment will take the form of a one hour examination during which the candidate will require to carry out 20 tasks using the application package.

ECDL Expert
ECDL advanced units are certificated individually to allow candidates the opportunity to specialise in one or more areas of the application packages.
Candidates who successfully complete all 4 advanced units are entitled to make online application for an ECDL Expert certificate. No additional assessment is required for this certificate but it is not issued automatically.
What's more, the ECDL Expert certificate, along with Associate membership of the British Computer Society for 6 months (Upon agreement to BSC Code of Conduct) is absolutely FREE. (The offer of 6 months free Associate membership is not available to current members of the BCS at any grade.)
