About this course
You must have already completed the ECDL Essentials Level 1 course. However, if you work with computers and are confident in using applications then you may have the necessary skills to enrol directly on to this course.

Introduction:
This Intermediate Level European Computer Driving License (ECDL) course is for those who wish to gain a formal IT qualification for work. It aims to equip you with the computing skills necessary to use applications software at an intermediate level. ECDL Extra is a full level 2 course, and is the equivalent of five GCSE's at grade C or above.
Study Mode & Location:
This part-time course is offered on a taught basis and will be held at the majority of our Community Venues. It is also available at our Fulwood Campus (St Vincent`s Road, Preston, PR1 8UR).
Course Content:
You will study the following modules:
- Word Processing.
- Spreadsheets.
- Presentations.
- Improving Productivity Using IT.
All aspects of the above applications will be covered and each module will have specific tasks associated with the particular software used.
You will need to attend every class in order to successfully complete this course. Homework may be given for some of the modules, but this would not be more than 2 hours extra work per week.
Assessment:
The Word Processing, Spreadsheets and Presentation modules are assessed by a task-based practical test. Your tutor will mark this and a pass mark of 75% is required. Assessments are usually taken when the learning for that Module has been completed.
The Improving Productivity Using IT module is assessed by a mixture of multiple choice questions and a task-based practical test. Your tutor will mark this and a pass mark of 75% is required for both the multiple choice and practical test. The assessment for this module is taken at the end of the course.
Careers & Progression Opportunities:
Successful completion of this course allows progression to the Certificate for IT Users (ECDL) Level 3.
How To Apply
You will need to have an informal interview with a Adult Admissions Adviser.
Many courses have limited places so please enquire as soon as possible. Following interview, the earliest you may enrol is mid-June.
