ECDL Version 5 Course The European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) is an IT and digital literacy qualification that is recognised worldwide. The course aims to improve student’s understanding of computers as well as introducing the use of everyday software applications. The ECDL qualification is recognised by employers worldwide as it shows that the learner has the competencies required to work with IT. This course has been designed for computer users with no prior knowledge of IT and software applications. The ECDL qualification is internationally recognised by employers and will provide you with the skills that will improve your future job prospects. Our ECDL V5 course consists of the 8 modules that comprise the ECDL Essentials and ECDL Extra courses.

Syllabus
Module 1 - Security for IT Users
The security for IT users unit provides the learner with an essential understanding of how to use a computer in a safe and secure manner, protecting their own data as well as that of other users.
Module 2 - IT User Fundamentals
IT user fundamentals builds the learner’s confidence by teaching basic interaction with computers, from start-up, to productive use and basic computer housekeeping.
Module 3 - Word Processing
This unit develops the learner’s ability to create word-processed documents: entering text, editing and formatting work, and using graphs, tables and pictures for a professional finish. The learner will also understand how to work more effectively using tools such as the spell-checker and mail merge.
Module 4 – Spreadsheets
This ECDL unit helps learners to develop a working knowledge of spreadsheets, from entering data and formatting worksheets, through to creating charts and producing high-quality documents.
Module 5 - Database Software
The database software unit will help learner to get more from the database application, giving them the skills to use the many advanced tools available in database applications to better manage and organise structured information.
Module 6 - Presentation Software
The presentation software unit introduces the learner to this important means of business communication. Upon completion, learners will be capable of producing high-quality presentations using a variety of tools, including charts, graphs and drawn objects.
Module 7 - Using E-mail and the Internet
This unit helps the learner understand how to use internet and email in a safe and secure way. It explains key terms and builds knowledge of the fundamentals of computer security and use of the internet and email.
Module 8 - Improving Productivity Using IT
This unit looks at using tools to save time and effort when producing word-processed documents, presentations and spreadsheets.
Study Hours
This is only an approximate figure and is dependant upon how much time you can dedicate to your studies and how well you grasp the learning concepts in the course material. Furthermore, at the end of each lesson there is a question paper that needs to be completed and returned to your tutor. You should allow at least 1 - 2 hours of study to complete each question paper.
The approximate amount of time required to complete the course is: 40 hrs.
