"The ecological operator, also commonly called garbage man or street sweeper, is responsible for cleaning the streets, collecting waste and maintaining the urban decor. Usually each ecological operator has his own area of ​​expertise, which he keeps clean and tidy using brooms and shovels, sweepers, equipment and vehicles for the collection of municipal waste. The working day of an ecological operator includes activities such as: collection of urban waste and cleaning of streets, squares, parks and public areas. The work can be done independently or by a team of operators. The garbage man goes to the areas of his competence and takes care of collecting the garbage bags and emptying the bins and garbage cans into the garbage truck. The collection of waste concerns both unsorted municipal solid waste and differentiated waste destined for recycling (for example wet, glass, plastic and paper). In addition, the garbage collector can also take care of collecting bulky waste such as old furniture and appliances, special waste (batteries, light bulbs, medicines, used oil ...) and industrial waste, even dangerous. If he works as a garbage truck driver, auto compactor or other garbage collector, the ecological operator must drive the vehicle following a predetermined route, paying attention to the road and maintaining safe driving. He must also operate the controls correctly, for example to lift the bins. When the waste collection round is over, the team of ecological operators goes to the waste treatment plants (landfills, incinerators, disposal, composting or recycling centers) in the area. Here the contents of the waste truck are unloaded and sorted for proper disposal or transferred to a larger vehicle to be sent elsewhere.
