This course is ideal if you are interested in studying economics with a focus on management and business. The programme will give you a strong understanding of economics and business while developing your ability to apply this knowledge to a range of real-world situations. It allows you to build your level of quantitative competence, and if you have not studied maths for some time, we offer short refresher courses which can be taken prior to the start of the degree.
Many employers require graduates who are able to clearly state and analyse problems while suggesting realistic strategies and solutions. This course will provide you with these essential skills and so prepare you for a range of jobs in both the private and public sectors.
This course is also available for part-time evening study over four years.

About this course
Graduates can pursue careers in economics and business, both in the public and private sectors. This degree may also be useful in becoming an economist, statistician, chartered management accountant or human resources officer.
We welcome applicants without traditional entry qualifications as we base decisions on our own assessment of qualifications, knowledge and previous work experience. We may waive formal entry requirements based on judgement of academic potential.

Course programme
You take compulsory and option modules at Level 4, Level 5 and Level 6, to a total of 360 credits.
In Year 1, you take five compulsory Level 4 modules to a total of 120 credits. These provide core, cross-disciplinary knowledge.
In Year 2, you choose two Level 5 economics option modules and two more Level 5 economics and/or business option modules.
In Year 3, you choose from a range of Level 6 option modules, matching your interests, strengths and career and academic aspirations. Full-time students usually take 120 credits in each year and you must take at least 120 credits at Level 6.
You can also choose option modules from our BSc Economics and BSc Financial Economics, subject to fulfilling any prerequisites and with guidance from the programme director.
