Introduction The college offers year-round EFL and summer programmes. Our EFL programme runs from September to June and offers 20 hours of tuition per week. There are three separate modules: General English, Skills Training and Academic English.
General English
This is a core module taken by all students. It focuses on improving your language abilities in an integrated manner by studying a range of topics of general interest. The General English module includes preparation for Cambridge ESOL examinations (e.g. PET, FCE and CAE).
Skills Training
This module focuses on improving your reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. You will learn how preview, record and review a text, and how to plan and write effective essays. Intensive listening classes will help to build your listening skills and intensive pronunciation coaching and presentation classes will help you to express yourself clearly.
Academic English
This module will help you to master the language necessary for success on A Level, foundation and degree programmes. It focuses on broadening and deepening your academic vocabulary. For example, you will study the most frequently used academic words. The academic English module includes preparation for the IELTS examination.
SUMMER SCHOOL
Our international summer school runs throughout July and August and offers 20 hours of tuition. It is suitable for students who wish to improve their language skills while enjoying a holiday in the UK, as well as students who wish to progress on to A Levels, foundation, or degree programmes. The tuition fee includes a full social programme of excursions to places of local and regional interest such as the Shakespeare Houses, Oxford, Bath and London.
All international students are entitled to access the full range of college facilities and support:
