Who is this course for?

Our English as a Foreign Language Courses are for students who are 16 and ove and want to improve their general English language skills, to develop confidence in speaking, to improve their writing skills, to develop language learning techniques and strategies and to prepare for Cambridge English Exams.

What qualifications or experience do I need ?

Our courses are available for beginners (A1/A2 CEFR.) to advanced level learners (C1/C2CEFR.) We will test you to make sure you a placed in the right class.

What will I study ?

The structures of language for everyday use Communication for everyday situations Writing tasks for description and informal and formal communications A range of vocabulary and use of language All aspects of the Cambridge English Key English Test

How will I be assessed ?

All students will be given homework to do every week including writing tasks. You will also be given tests to assess your progress.

What qualifications could I achieve ?

All students will receive a Barnet and Southgate College Certificate of attendance at level A2 CEFR. You can take a Cambridge English exam at level A2 CEFR in December, March or June.

Will I need an interview ?

You can be assessed at Southgate Campus Mon - Fri. 10.00 - 12.00 The test usually takes 1 hour. If you not able to come for an assessment we can send you the assessment test by email to complete and return.

Any extra costs for equipment/materials ?

You will need to buy a course book to support your learning which are approximately £30.00. You are expected to bring a file and notebook to all your classes. If you choose to do an exam you will need to pay for your exam £55 - 95.00 dependent on level.

We offer continuous enrolment which means that you can start your course at any time throughout the year. Max class size: 20
