About this course
Entry requirements will be typically four GCSEs or equivalent at grade C or above, including maths, English and a science or a level 2 / 3 diploma in an engineering discipline.

Course programme
Year 1
Eight units must be completed: engineering and environmental health and safety, organisational efficiency and improvement, electronic principles, programmable logic controllers, analogue electronics, digital electronics, and microelectronics. The first two units are core with the remainder being skills-specific. Practical elements are tested through skills tests in the College workshops.
Understand mathematical techniques, formula and calculation involved in electrical/electronic engineering.
Understand the Health and Safety requirements in an engineering workplace.
Understand electrical and electronic principles.
To include:
Read and interpret relevant data and documentation used to produce electrical panels and circuits.
Understanding industrial control systems, electrical technology, principles and application of electronic devices and circuits, selecting and using programmable logic controllers, principles and operation of three-phase motors and drives.
