HNC Electrical / Electronic Engineering

Course Overview
The utilisation of electricity in the field of 'electrical and electronic engineering' encompasses a wide range of technical applications within industry, commerce and around the home. This course develops and applies an understanding of the science, engineering principles and associated technology in the area of electrical and electronic engineering.

The HNC Electrical / Electronic Engineering is a well established national qualification that places academic theory within a practical context. The course is suitable for those already employed in the engineering industry who wish to enhance their career prospects as well as those seeking a change of career.

Two methods of study are available:

  • Part-time on a full or half day release, or evening only basis.
  • Flexible learning - this comprises one-week intensive courses, accreditation of prior learning and distance learning.

What will I study?
The HNC Electrical / Electronic Engineering course comprises 10 modules.

Modules can include
  • Modules studied include the six compulsory modules:
  • Engineering Fundamentals
  • Engineering Design
  • Analytical Methods for Engineers
  • Business Management Methods
  • Electrical & Electronic Principles
  • Project

A further four specialist modules are also studied.

Modules are assessed by written assignments and in-class tests. There are no formal examinations.

Course Requirements

Progression
