Course Description
This programme is in line with the new SQA national framework. It is designed to provide a broad-based technical education for those wishing to work in Electrical Engineering at Technician level.

Preferred Entry Requirements
An appropriate NC OR Higher Maths or Physics or Technological Studies OR 2 related Intermediate 2 awards OR other relevant qualifications and experience. Entry by informal interview.

Year 2:
Business Awareness & Continuing Professional Development; Electrical Engineering: Graded Unit 2; Electrical Installation Design; Electrical Motor Drive Systems; Electrical Networks And Resonance; Fundamentals Of Control Systems and Transducers; High Level Engineering Software; Information Technology: Applications Software; Mathematics For Engineering 2; Power Electronics; Power Supply Circuits; Transformers; Transmission Lines And Complex Waves; Utilisation Of Electrical Energy In Buildings.

Progression
Further study at Degree level. Employment: a wide range of posts at Technician level in Electrical Engineering; Maintenance Technician; Electrical Installation Design Technician; Test Technician.
