The City & Guilds Level 1 Diploma qualification comprises of 7 units.
There is a mixture of theory and practical in each unit and assessments are completed through the year.
The units are as follows:-
1. Structure of the construction industry
2. Fundamental safe working practices
3. Environmental and sustainability measures in domestic dwellings
4. Site preparation for working in the construction industry
5. Electrical installation wiring and terminations
6. Fabrication techniques for electrical installation
7. Electrical science and technology
As well as studying on the Level 1 Diploma you will study GCSE / Functional Skills in English and Maths at a level suitable to your individual needs. You will also undertake 35 hours of Work experience within the electrical industry. You will learn the practicalities of how cabling enclosures, supports, accessories, wiring systems are assembled and installed. The course includes coverage of aspects of Health and Safety, Building Services Engineering and Construction Environments and BS7671 Wiring Regulations. Assessment of achievement is primarily through the compilation of assessments and on line exams. The course is delivered at Keighley College. The College has well equipped workshops and classrooms, cafeteria, e-learning zones and private study areas. This course is suitable for applicants that have GCSE Certificates that are between grade D, to F in Mathematics and English.
