Course programme

The qualification consists of five units. The units of study are:
  • 201 Health and safety in building services engineering (value of 3 QCF points).
  • 202 Principles of Electrical Science (value of 10 QCF points).
  • 203 Electrical Installations Technology (value of 12 QCF points).
  • 204 Installation of wiring systems and enclosures (value of 21 QCF points).
  • 210 Understand how to communicate with others within building services. engineering (value of 3 QCF points)

You will learn about the design, construction and testing of a range of electrical circuits and systems as found in domestic, commercial and some industrial applications. The course is delivered at Keighley College.

The College has well equipped workshops and classrooms, cafeteria, e-learning zones and private study areas. Keighley College is conveniently located adjacent to the Railway Station. Suitable applicants will hold, or may have the equivalent of, GCSE Certificates at grade C or above in the subjects of Mathematics, English and either Physics or another technical science- based qualification. Consideration may be given to applicants that are not able to produce formal certificates, but who can demonstrate the equivalent understanding and knowledge.

All applicants will be subject to an interview and assessment of suitability, to ensure they meet the entry requirements of the course, and that the course will meet their personal training needs.
You can take this course either Full or Part Time. Full Time runs during the day for one year. The Part Time option is two evenings per week from 6-9pm over two years. This course offers the opportunity to progress to the Level 3 Diploma in Electrotechnical Technology
