Why BEng(Hons) Electronic and Computer Engineering?
Embedded systems are now used in an increasing number of industries. Complex applications range from aerospace, to hybrid vehicles and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in healthcare.
To develop and manage these systems requires a good understanding of mathematics, electronics, engineering and computer programming. The shortage of professionals with this specialism means there are numerous opportunities across a range of industries for graduates in electronics and embedded systems.
Why study our course?
Developed in partnership with Gloucestershire College and GE Aviation, this course will equip you with the skills and knowledge to design, build and integrate emerging and future embedded technologies.
You will study a combination of mathematics, electronics, low-level programming and high-level software engineering principles. You will also learn how to design and create microelectronics and computer-based systems. This is applied through hands-on activities and project work in Gloucestershire College's advanced electronics labs and UWE Bristol's state-of-the-art facilities.
Real world experience
Throughout the course, you will do work-based learning while working on practical projects in our modern, well-equipped facilities. To help you apply learning in different contexts, you will also work on live project briefs, real case studies and work-related scenarios.
Where it can take you
On graduation, you will be qualified to work in a wide and diverse range of industries and organisations. With professional expertise in electronic, embedded systems and software engineering, you will find work in areas including aerospace, automation, healthcare, IT and communications.
You can also focus on a specific field of interest through studying for a postgraduate degree.
