Why study FdSc Electronic and Computer Engineering?
Embedded systems are now used in a wide range of industries. Complex applications range from aerospace, to hybrid vehicles and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in healthcare. Developing and managing these systems requires a firm understanding of mathematics, electronics, engineering and computer programming. Developed in partnership with UWE Bristol, Gloucestershire College and GE Aviation, there are opportunities to progress onto one of our professionally accredited honours degrees.
You will study a combination of mathematics, electronics, low-level programming and high-level software engineering principles. You will also learn how to design and create microelectronic and computer-based systems. This is applied through hands-on activities and project work in Gloucestershire College's advanced electronics labs and UWE Bristol's state-of-the-art facilities.
Real world experience
Learning is focused on live project briefs, real case studies and work-related scenarios. You will also apply this through work-based learning throughout the course.

On graduation, subject to your grades, you can progress onto our BEng Electronic and Computer Engineering.

About this course

Study facilities
This course will help you develop practical skills and bring ideas to life in advanced facilities in Gloucestershire College and UWE Bristol's Frenchay Campus.
You will collaborate and develop ideas in Gloucestershire College's electronics lab.
The course will give you the opportunity to create and test software using our dedicated servers with Windows and Linux based operating systems.
You will also make circuit boards, leads and connectors in our fabrication facilities with electronic test equipment, monitors, scopes and expert support team of technicians.
