This course will train you to apply fundamental concepts and design software and applications for the connected world of the future, together with an understanding of the underlying hardware.

You’ll learn to apply theory to real engineering problems and technologies, combining specialist skills with scientific research methods.

You’ll also study advanced topics such as C++ and object-oriented design, digital signal processing and artificial intelligence.

You can apply to study for either a BEng or MEng (Master of Engineering). The MEng builds on the BEng course with a masters year and is a direct route to a masters qualification. Depending on your progress, you may have the option to switch to a BEng or MEng during your studies.

Our BEng and MEng Electronic Engineering with Computer Systems courses are designed to cross the boundaries between hardware electronics, software and computer programming and architectures, and machine learning, preparing you for an exciting career in the information technology and computing industries, and with firmware applications such as the internet of things.

Through project work, you’ll also get the chance to work with academics from our research centres and use the latest computer software and facilities.

BEng (Hons):
AAB-ABB including Mathematics and one of Physics, Electronics, Computing, Computer Science, Further Mathematics.
Applicants taking the Science Practical Endorsement are required to pass.

MEng (Hons):
AAA-AAB including Mathematics and one of Physics, Electronics, Computing, Computer Science, Further Mathematics.
Applicants taking the Science Practical Endorsement are required to pass.

BEng (Hons) with foundation year:
CCC - (including Mathematics and Physics or Chemistry).
