Course programme

Course detail Description

Our course will provide you with a thorough and deep understanding of general electronic engineering design and analysis, while also developing key management skills and techniques.

The course offers specialist modules in robotics and computer science alongside electronic engineering and management. The diverse nature of our course means you are able to develop a strong foundation in electronic engineering and management, while also studying more advanced topics in real time and control systems, telecommunication networks, and operations management. The fourth and final year of your MEng degree will provide further opportunities for you to deepen and apply your specialist knowledge.

You will explore the essential concepts and principles in engineering management and identify the professional and ethical responsibilities of engineering practice. There is also a strong focus on developing mathematical skills, which you will use to analyse the performance of communication and control systems.

Teaching

You are expected to spend approximately 10 hours work per credit for each module you attend in your degree, e.g. 150 hours work for a 15 credit module. These hours cover every aspect of the module: lectures, tutorials, laboratory sessions, independent study, coursework and preparation for examinations.

Assessment

You will be assessed through written examinations, project reports, and coursework. For the practical and design elements, you will be assessed through laboratory write-ups, design projects, presentations, research project reports and oral examinations.
