Electrotechnical (Electrical Installation) - Advanced Apprenticeship

Course overview This Apprenticeship framework covers the installation, testing and commissioning of electrotechnical equipment inside a domestic dwelling to large construction site buildings. The electrotechnical sector plays a key role in industries and electricians use specialist skills to tackle a variety of projects on houses, commercial premises, factories and agricultural buildings. Industrial electricians can be employed in many different organisations: electrical contractors, companies that provide a range of electrical and electronic services, specialist operators and even local authorities. The industry carries out projects like wiring new shopping centres, sports stadiums and hospitals. Advanced Apprentices will be expected to have strong practical skills and advanced abilities. Typical roles include: Installation Electrician, Electrical Engineer, Industrial Electrician and Electrical Technician. Apprenticeships are a tested way of training either a new or existing team member. An apprenticeship will provide on-the-job training which leads to an employee gaining a nationally recognised qualification which has been developed by the Sector Skills Council. The Apprenticeship framework will include the following elements; • Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (Buildings, Structures and the Environment) – Level 3 Diploma • Mathematics – Level 2 • English – Level 2 • Information and Communication Technologies – Level 2 • Personal Learning & Thinking Skills • Employment Rights and Responsibilities • Apprenticeship Occupation Practical Performance Assessment (AM2) Entry requirements An employee/apprentice must be over 16 years of age with no prior level 4 qualifications or above working a minimum of 30 contracted hours per week in an appropriate occupational role
