Course programme
This course is designed for smaller workplaces that present few health and safety risks, where a nominated person is required to take charge in the event of an illness or accident. The course complies fully with the current Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. Code of Practice.
Course Content:
- The role of the first aider in the workplace including:
- the importance of preventing cross infection
- recording incidents and actions (Accident Book)
- use of equipment and first aid kits
- relevant First Aid at Work Regulations
- Managing an incident - safely - promptly and effectively
- Priorities of treatment (ABC)
- Resuscitation CPR – Adult / Child & Baby
- Causes and the management of an unconscious casualty including seizures
- Cardio vascular diseases including heart attacks and strokes
- Choking
- Treatment for wounds and severe blood loss
- Shock
- Minor injuries management
Course Material
- All delegates receive a comprehensive course book at the start of the course.
Assessment
- All delegates are assessed as to their competency by continued assessment throughout the course.
Certification
- Successful delegates receive a Health and Safety approved Emergency First Aid Certificate (EFAW) valid for three years.
