Employer Led Apprenticeship in Accounting Entry Requirements

• Ideally you need to be working in a job within the financial sector and be performing a range of tasks within the sector
• 5 GCSEs at grade C or above including Maths and English or relevant Industry experience
• You will need to be comfortable with the use of PCs including word processing and spreadsheets
• Entry is via interview

• The level 2 foundation Apprenticeship in Accountancy start with basic accounting concepts including: Recording Income and Payments, Trial Balance, Information for Management Control, Working with Information Technology (including computerised accounting), Health and Safety at Work and Achieving Personal Effectiveness
• Level 3 Intermediate goes on to cover the preparation and maintenance of financial records and final accounts, recording and evaluating costs and revenues, preparing reports and VAT returns

Assessment

• The course combines examinations with regular skills tests.
• Completion of a portfolio of evidence from assessment within the workplace will be required to complete the NVQ.

Progression

• Once level 2 is complete candidates can progress onto an Advanced Apprenticeship level 3, then onto complete a stand alone level 4 NVQ.

Framework

• Technical Certificate - Centrally assessed core knowledge and understanding embedded within the NVQ AAT
• NVQ Level 2 Qualification - NVQ 2 in Accounting (Association of Accounting Technicians)
• Key Skills
  • Application of Number Level 1 or 2
  • Communication Level 2
  • This provides you with the opportunity to refresh your Maths and English skills (Concessions may be available for prior qualifications in Maths and English if completed within the last 5 years)
• Employment Rights and Responsibilities - Knowledge of the responsibilities and rights of workers, the role of the organisation within the wider industry and the effect of public law and policy on Industry are evidenced by completion of a workbook provided by AOSG during induction
