This programme aims to develop the skills required to enable independent practice of endodontics at a level above special interest but below specialist. It is studied either full-time over one year or part-time over two years and has a strong clinical bias.

About this course
Graduates of this programme have generally progressed to specialist endondontics roles within the dental or medical professions or as lecturers.
All applicants must normally hold an approved dental qualification and have a minimum of two years' clinical experience.

Course programme
The programme aims to develop a broad understanding of endodontics, including basic principles and how to apply them clinically.
Students undertake modules to the value of 180 credits.
The programme consists of five core modules (120 credits) and a research dissertation (60 credits).

Dissertation/reportEach student undertakes an independent research project which culminates in a dissertation of approximately 10,000–12,000 words.
Teaching and learningThe programme is delivered through a structured lecture/seminar series, skills laboratory simulation courses, diagnostic clinics, supervised treatment of patients, case conferences and a research project leading to a dissertation. Students are encouraged to develop a range of vocation-specific and transferable skills.
