About this course
The programme prepares students for future professional evaluation of clinical/academic competence as a specialist. It is also a suitable springboard for pursuing academic, clinical or research careers in endodontics.
All applicants must normally hold an approved dental qualification and have a minimum of three years' clinical experience post-qualification.

Course programme
The programme teaches a broad and deep understanding of endodontology, enabling students to apply appropriate clinical strategies from first principles. Mentored coaching specifically targets development of independent learning skills, with the aim of achieving long-term mastery.
Students undertake modules to the value of 360 credits. The third year of study is non-credit bearing and will include clinical training, didactic teaching and completion of clinical audit.
Year one: core modules (135 credits) and dissertation (30 credits). Year two: core modules (135 credits) and dissertation (60 credits).
Core modulesYears one and two of the programme consist of 13 modules. The third year is non-credit bearing and teaching is delivered via clinical sessions, tutorials, and study groups.

During year three, all students are required to finalise case-log portfolio, complete an audit project and have an attendance rate of no less than 70%.
Optional modulesThere are no optional modules for this programme.
Dissertation/reportAll students undertake an independent research project in years one and two, which culminates in a dissertation of 13,000–15,000 words.
Teaching and learningThe programme is delivered through a structured lecture and seminar series, laboratory skills simulation courses, diagnostic clinics, supervised treatment of patients, clinical audit and a research project.
