The Engineering City & Guilds Certificate Level 1 course has been specifically designed to provide an introduction to a broad base of engineering skills, knowledge and understanding. You will study engineering manufacture, welding and electronics and English and Maths as part of your main programme.


This programme has been specifically designed to provide an introduction to a broad base of engineering skills and principles to allow you to progress to a higher level study at Level 3. You will experience a range of different engineering principles and learn from exindustry experts through lectures, practical activities, group and personal tutorials. You will also engage in

GEM and GAP activities to develop your English, maths and employability skills.

Engineering City & Guilds Certificate Level 1

Subjects studied are a selection of the following:



  • Fitting Techniques

  • Engineering Machining, Milling/Turning

  • Welding Techniques

  • Health and Safety

  • Using and Communicating Technical Information

  • Electronics or Electrical installations

  • English, Maths and Progression into Industry



Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs (grades A*-E), including English and maths.



Career Opportunities

Successful students will be able to progress to employment whilst continuing their study via the day release programme or apply for an Apprenticeship.



Course Progression

Further education and training, for example, the Engineering Level 2, or Welding and Fabrication Practice courses.

Our term starts the week commencing 5th September 2016,
however you may have different start dates depending on the course.
You will receive the details of your first day over the summer period,
