This course forms an essential part of a modern or advanced apprenticeship; seeking to build upon a students' competency with engineering tools and machinery. As well as this a thorough understanding of drawing (both reading and creating) and other technical information is also taught, along with health and safety and inspection techniques. The course is roughly a 70% practical to 30 % theory and is intended to create an independent apprentice engineer.

Working Safely in an Engineering Environment Working Efficiently & Effectively in Engineering Using & Communicating Technical Information Producing Components Using Hand Fitting Techniques Preparing & Using Lathes for Turning Operations Preparing & Using Milling Machines You will gain the skills to develop as an apprentice engineer. The course runs at our Keighley College and Printworks Campus. From this course (normally combined with a BTEC of the appropriate level) students go on into work in the engineering sector, or become an apprentice.
