Entry Requirements
Ideally applicants will hold five GCSEs including English and Maths at grade D or higher. Apprenticeships are open to anyone over the age of 16, whether they have just left school or have been working for years. Applicants should not take part in full-time education.
In order to enrol onto an Apprenticeship, you need to be employed in a relevant job role and undertake a range of tasks which would enable you to complete the Apprenticeship qualification.

Summary
Mechatronics Maintenance Technicians ensure that plant and equipment perform to the required standard to facilitate production targets regarding Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost within High Value Manufacturing environments. Typically the work would cover a broad range of activities include installation, testing, fault finding and the ongoing planned maintenance of complex automated equipment. This requires the application of a complex blend of skills, knowledge and occupational behaviours across the electrical, electronic, mechanical, fluid power and control systems disciplines.
Course Content includes:
- Understanding of mathematical techniques, formula and calculations in a mechatronics maintenance environment and the type of equipment being maintained
- Read and interpret relevant data and documentation used to maintain components, equipment and systems
- Carry out planned maintenance activities on plant and equipment
- Carry out confirmation testing and subsequent smooth hand over of equipment & plant support the installation and testing
You will complete Level 3 Engineering Technician Apprenticeship – Mechatronics Maintenance Technician Standard
- This Apprenticeship will involve college attendance and off the job training.
- You will also develop your knowledge, skills and behaviours.
- You need to have an employer to support your Apprenticeship and be employed in a relevant job role.
- The typical length of this Apprenticeship course is 42 - 48 months.
