Previous knowledge required: You will need to have satisfactory levels of literacy and numeracy. It would be advantageous to possess good grade GCSE's in Maths and a Science/Technology subject. You should have a strong interest in engineering, be well motivated and have an aptitude for practical work. All applicants must complete a satisfactory interview. Applications from mature candidates are particularly welcomed even though they may not possess the necessary entrance qualifications.

What will I study? On this course, time will be spent on the practical tasks and activities associated with a Multi-Skilled Engineer. If you are a practically minded person this could be the course for you. You will study subjects including: Engineering and Environmental Health and Safety Principles of Welding Health and Safety MMA - Manual Metal Arc MIG - Metal Inert Gas TIG - Tungsten Inert GasPneumatics

What else will I do? EAL Level 2 Keys skills - Working with Others, Improving your Own Learning and Problem Solving Depending upon pathway chosen: Ist year of the City and Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Engineering (Welding Pathway)

How will I be assessed? There will be a combination of examinations and coursework.

What will I achieve? City and Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Engineering (Multi-skilled Pathway)

What can I do afterwards? Following successful completion of this course you could either progress to a higher level qualification or a career within the Engineering industry
