You will acquire English language film vocabulary and grammar that will give you the confidence to walk onto a film set or into a film training environment and communicate effectively with a crew, tutors and fellow students. More specifically, you will acquire and practise the terminology of storyboarding, scripting, directing, lighting, sound recording, documentary and feature film production and post-production through exercises and practical projects. Suitable for: Those who want to improve your command of English language through film - Those who want an overview of filmmaking disciplines Film and TV industry professionals whose mother tongue is not English and who need to acquire film vocabulary to work in an English crew - Those who are considering further education (including our Diploma Course) or finding entry-level work leading to a career in film

This course is an essential preparation if your first language is not English and you wish to study or work in an English-speaking country or within an English speaking crew. The English for Filmmakers course can be taken either as a two-week course or as private tuition (length determined by the individual's needs).

Course Overview
Tutor Sessions
- Language acquisition exercises which are applied to the following subjects:
- Hollywood and European cinema
- Film scripts and documentary treatments
- Film stock, formats, cameras and lenses
- Lighting for drama and documentaries
- Sound, editing and post-production
- Working on a feature film set
- Working in the film industry
Non-Tutor Sessions
- Theoretical exercises and practical projects are set, for example: writing reports on classroom sessions,
writing a short film script, shooting and editing your film.
Course Length and Commitment
- 2 weeks, full-time (15 hours per week), Monday to Friday
- Hours: 10:00—13:00 Tutor session, 14:00—17:00 Individual Projects, no tutor
- Students are also expected to work additional hours after the lessons
