What will I learn?
Language is essential to our daily lives; it helps us to understand who we are, and what others might think of us; it is also a way to express thoughts and feelings, it even shapes our view of the world. Discover how and why it is used differently by different speakers ? and by the same speaker in different situations ? and how it has changed over time. You will improve your communication skills and gain the skills to analyse and evaluate written and spoken English.
What qualifications do I need?
We would normally require candidates to have the standard sixth form entry criteria including GCSE English Language at grade A or B.
Career opportunities:
The skills you will gain are relevant to a very wide range of careers. Professions which require specific linguistic expertise are publishing, journalism, public relations, advertising copywriting and technical authorship. Other types of work could be media, law, IT, management, personnel administration and marketing.
