This popular degree will develop your expertise in literary textual studies, and prepare you for your chosen career.The high quality, vibrant and and challenging learning and teaching methods you will encounter during the course are carefully designed to build confidence and independence as you progress from the first to the third year. With a range of professionally-orientated modules, including work-based projects, and foreign language electives at all levels of study, you will become a flexible and innovative graduate.

This must include at least 2 A Levels or equivalent BTEC qualifications. For example:BBC at A Level.DMM in BTEC Extended Diploma.A combination of qualifications, which may include AS levels, EPQ and general studies.

Live projectsYou may complete a work-based or work-related project, gaining professional experience in areas such as literary editing, feature journalism or publicity and enhancing your employability. Project hosts have included ASSIST, Settle Stories, Storying Sheffield, Site Gallery and Venture Matrix Big Challenge Project.In the second semester of your second year you can choose to study English abroad at the University of Neuchâtel in Switzerland, Trent University in Canada, University of Luxembourg, or Georgia Southern University in the USA.Field tripsThroughout your degree course you will engage with culture both within and beyond the University. We are located in the heart of the city, in easy walking distance of the Crucible and Lyceum theatres and the Showroom cinema.You can also get involved with Sheffield's annual Off the Shelf literary festival, visit Sheffield theatres and enjoy drama workshops by the 1623 Theatre Company. Recent field trips have also included London's Globe Theatre, Doc/Fest international documentary festival and country houses including Brodsworth Hall near Doncaster.
